man was I suprised when this actually worked once I put batteries in. idk how accurate but it will work for pointing out which 18650 cells are running hotter than the rest, atleast in theory.

Nice laser thermometer for the money! It was simple to open with a quarter turn using a standard screwdriver to reveal the battery compartment. I inserted two AAA batteries I had on hand and tested it on a window sill in full sunlight. A quick push of the button changed the display from C to F so I could understand it.
Another button turned on a red laser pointer which made focusing on a column of hot running water easier and it instantly gave me a reading of 101 degrees. I then focused the laser into the splash spot below the column of water in the sink and measured that. It reported back 106 degrees as it was warming up from the warm water.
A third button turns on and off the LCD displays backlight for easier reading in dark settings.
And finally the unit powered itself off after I was done playing with it. I’m sure I will be using this in the future for more important tasks.
